2008-09 was another outstanding year for Bishop Sunrise Rotary, especially since we grew from a "medium" club to a "large" club!

Bishop Sunrise Rotary was awarded first place among large clubs for our Vocational Service programs, which included our scholarship program, career seminar & job fair and our networking roundtable.  We also received a special award for our Mardi Gras Fundraising and Special Merits for :

Most Effective Senior Project - Bishop Sunrise Community Garden

Most Directly Affected - The United Blood Services Blood Drives

The Best Heart Warming Project - Drive a Bear to Bishop

The 2007-08 Rotary year was probably the best year ever for the Rotary Club of Bishop Sunrise.  At our District Conference (in the medium-sized clubs division), we received first place honors for best total program in Club Service, second place for best total program in Youth Service, and third place for best total program in International Service.  Individual project awards included a first place for our Mardi Gras fundraiser, a second prize for our "Drive a Book to Bishop Book Drive", and Honorable mentions for our Club public relations program, our scholarship program, and our Career seminar and Job fair.  We also received a special first place honor for Best Publications!  We were also recognized for our substantial editorial contributions to the District Website.

The most exciting news, though, was that we received the District 5260 "Silver Bell" as the District's Outstanding Medium-Sized Club!  Finally, Club President Tom Hardy was recognized, along with Lancaster Sunrise President Marta Golding Brown, as District 5260 President of the Year.

In 2006-07, 2007-08 AND 2008-09 Rotary Years, the Rotary Club of Bishop Sunrise was honored with the RI Presidential Citations from RI Presidents Bill Boyd, Wilf Wilkenson, and D.K. Lee.

In 2006, The Club also received a District Award for Superior Community Service, as well as placing third overall in the District for Club Service in the medium-sized club category.

Our International Service project helping to fund a solar hot water heater at the Chungba Tibetan School in 2006 received an honorable mention award.
